About BMTGV

BMTGV is a music creation project. It’s all about answering the question, “Can some random guy without an excess of talent create interesting, meaningful music?”

The random guy is me, Jason Rodriguez. I’m an adequate guitar, bass, and ukulele player, a less-than-adequate keyboardist, and a fairly atrocious singer. Still, I love music more than most other things in my life.

I taught myself guitar in my early teens, played bass in high school jazz band, and then both in a couple of bands during college (and a little after I dropped out, too). I was always playing other people’s songs, though. The last few years have me wondering if I could write and record some of my own. This project is my way to document the process of doing just that.

I don’t have any idea of what my music will end up sounding like (probably folky, if we’re being honest), but I’m excited to find out. I also don’t have any intention of writing them for anyone but myself, and absolutely zero delusions of grandeur. What I do have is a good day job and career, two kids, and a mortgage to pay. I’m not about to pretend that I’m going on tour or getting primo ad placements anytime soon—this is purely a hobby and creative outlet.

If you need to get in touch with me (especially with a lucrative placement), you can email me. If you’re just here to follow along, I heartily recommend using RSS to do so.
